Our Story

Luiggia's Table is a continuation of a family story that began over a century ago, rooted in resilience, hospitality, and the simple act of feeding others well.

The Beginning

The story begins with our great-grandparents, Luiggia (Louisa) and John Rossi. Survivors of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, they met amid the chaos of a Nob Hill tent city, where strangers became neighbors and survival required community.

From that moment, they began building a life together—one shaped by hard work, food, and connection. They eventually settled in Napa, where John worked as a gardener on the majestic estate of Col. W.F. Hogan (now the Veterans Home) and later for the Stelling Estate in Rutherford.

A Legacy of Hospitality

While John tended to the earth, Luiggia tended to the people. She was the heart of the home, a woman whose kitchen was always open and whose table was never empty.

Together, they raised their family at 1502 Main Street—the very location where Pasta Prego stands today. For decades, this address was not a restaurant, but a home. It was where friends gathered, where stories were told, and where the values of generosity and warmth were passed down through generations.

Today, we honor that legacy by opening "Luiggia's Table" within Pasta Prego. This is not just a dining experience; it is an invitation to step back into the warmth of Luiggia's home.
